The General Catalyst Award for Travel Innovation

One outstanding demonstrator will receive the General Catalyst Award for Travel Innovation, created in partnership with General Catalyst Partners.

The General Catalyst Award for Travel Innovation will be presented in the form of a US$100,000 convertible bridge loan to the travel technology company that demonstrates the most groundbreaking travel application or solution during [email protected] Phocuswright Conference (view eligibility criteria).

The winner will be selected from among the Summit companies* meeting the eligibility criteria. The award will go to the company with the highest numerical score with an increased emphasis on whether the company's innovation has the potential to create breakthrough value in the travel industry.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Startup or emerging company (the company came into existence November 14, 2013 or later)
  • Is currently seeking funding
  • Has not raised more than $2M in debt or equity nor have they signed a term sheet that would raise outside investment to more than $2M as of November 14, 2017
  • Not currently funded by General Catalyst
  • Must pass General Catalyst due diligence and requisite internal General Catalyst approval process

The bridge loan will convert to equity when the company raises their next round. Companies currently in General Catalyst's portfolio are not eligible and will be excluded from the selection process.

* Not all travel innovators are eligible for the General Catalyst award.
