Proud Bajan Jamie-Lee Abtar is a marketing and tourism development strategist, an expert in Caribbean tourism and the executive director of BAME Women in Travel. A marketer at heart and by trade, Jamie-Lee’s skills lie in her ability to build relationships, develop partnerships and bring about powerful connections.

It is this ability that has seen Jamie-Lee work with some of the biggest and best travel organisations, destinations and brands in the sector, creating compelling campaigns and arranging events that deliver. The Caribbean Tourism Organization, the Sri Lanka Training Program, Party Hard Travel, the Lanterns Hotel Collection, Ocean Hotel Group and Sackville Travel are just a few.

This marketing expertise led to Jamie-Lee becoming one of TTG’s 30 Under 30 Future Travel Leaders. Driven to capture new insights, Jamie-Lee has developed projects to support travel and tourism with African Caribbean diaspora communities, helping destination and brands to better connect with those that once called the Caribbean or Africa home.

Enthusiastic about encouraging young people into the travel industry, Jamie-Lee is an ambassador for the Institute of Travel and Tourism Future You Program. Confident to open and lead the conversation, Jamie-Lee is a noted speaker on racial diversity, cultural diversity, and travel and tourism trends, moderating at conferences and events around the world.

Jamie-Lee’s innate understanding of the industry and innate ability to pinpoint areas of potential growth for brands led to Jamie-Lee’s current role with BAME Women In Travel. From highlighting role models in the travel sector to advising brands on how they can diversify their travel marketing to attract new audiences, Jamie-Lee is the powerhouse supporting women and the brands they work for to progress and prosper in travel.
