Julie Farago Vice President, Engineering
Julie Farago is the Senior Engineering Director for Google Travel and Local, where she leads teams responsible for developing Google’s search functionalities for flights, trains, hotels, restaurants, hardware stores, beauty salons, and other local businesses.

Renowned for her expertise in creating, launching, and scaling innovative products, Julie has made significant contributions across the tech industry. At Microsoft, she designed and launched the modern scrolling image search interface, which set a new industry standard in 2006. Since joining Google, she played a pivotal role in building Chrome’s groundbreaking install and update software, enabling millions of seamless installations on launch day and eliminating the need for update prompts.

Julie further advanced Android’s presence in education by spearheading its first major enterprise initiative focused on K-12 learning. Before her current role in Travel and Local, Julie led the Health Platforms business at Verily Life Sciences, where she developed data-driven solutions for patients, healthcare providers, and systems.

In her personal life, Julie is a passionate runner and hiker, and she enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction.

She currently resides in Massachusetts.
