Erik Blachford Founder
Erik was the second CEO at Expedia, after running Marketing as part of the founding team at Microsoft. He later became CEO of IAC Travel, managing the integration of Expedia, Hotels.com, Hotwire, and Classic Vacations.

Erik later served as CEO of Butterfield & Robinson, a world leader in luxury active travel, CEO of TerraPass, a provider of carbon offsets and energy consulting services, and Executive Chairman at Couchsurfing, a global accommodation sharing platform, before turning to investing, first as a Venture Partner at Technology Crossover Ventures, and continuing today as an active early stage independent venture investor.

Erik currently serves on boards of directors including Zillow Group, HipCamp, Busbud, Fora Travel, Joy Life, DCbel, and the Adventure Travel Trade Association, and is the owner of Camp Nominingue, a wilderness adventure summer camp for boys in Quebec. Former boards include Expedia, SiteMinder, TourRadar, Varsity Tutors, Liftopia, Glassdoor, Choose Energy, and Peloton.

Erik holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, a B.A. in English and Theater from Princeton University, and an M.F.A. in Fiction and Playwriting from San Francisco State.

Erik has also served as Executive Chairman of Couchsurfing, a hospitality exchange and social networking website, as CEO of Butterfield & Robinson, a world leader in top quality active travel, and as CEO of TerraPass, a leading retailer of carbon offsets, consumer energy efficiency products, and green gifts. Erik serves on the boards of several TCV portfolio companies, including SiteMinder, TourRadar, Varsity Tutors, and Zillow. An active early stage investor, he holds stakes in travel companies such as Vayable, Traveling Spoon, Hotel Tonight, and Tripping. He is also a board member at Peloton Cycle, Vayable, and Liftopia.

Interests
Erik is a member of the U.S. National Council of the World Wildlife Fund, a board member at Cutting Ball Theater in San Francisco, and the majority owner of Camp Nominingue, a wilderness adventure summer camp for boys in Quebec.

Erik holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in English and Certificate in Theater from Princeton University.
