Product Description: At One Degree, we're changing travel behavior by creating a standard for responsible travel. We utilize our extensive database, our API and user submissions to score vacation rentals, hotels and resorts on their sustainability efforts. Scored properties receive the advantage of higher visibility on rental sites and better quality bookings - which means less cancellations and more responsible travelers. One Degree members also receive support on increasing their sustainability efforts.
Business Model: By having multiple niche segments, we target unique personas, increasing our relevancy to the searcher. We programmatically place ads in front of travelers with high intent, and only pay if an ad is clicked. Once clicked, they visit one of our sites, where we influence their decisions before referring them to our customers. When a referral completes, we share in the revenue.
Competitors: Green Key Global, Green Globe, Ecobnb, GreenPearl
Competitive Edge: We're a cloud-based platform that captures, stores, and processes millions of data points about international travel and accommodations. This data is our competitive advantage. With it, we can influence travel decisions, and these decisions can train our algorithms to improve our performance.
Market Opportunity: The responsible travel movement is growing at a rapid pace. According to a study by Booking.com, 87% of people would like to travel sustainably but only 40% manage to do so. In addition, 31% of travelers are unaware that eco-friendly accommodations even exist. This isn't due to a lack of options but a lack of visibility. We're changing travel behavior by facilitating connections between property owners and travelers by increasing sustainable options visibility across booking sites.
Early Customers: Property owners, property managers, hotels and OTAs.
